  though a christian, author philip johnson critiques evolutionary theory from a secular standpoint as he examines the philosophical games many scientists play to protect their evolutionary ideology.

  the watchtower society dates noah's flood to 2370 b.c.e.

  they do this by following bible chronology quite closely, counting backwards from 607 b.c.e., their date for babylon's destruction of jerusalem.

  however, as we know, the society's date for that event is in error.

  When we read something that was written thousands of years ago we have to go try to think what it meant thousands of years ago when it was written not what it means to us today but what it meant at the time of its writting.
  If written by Shem we have to asked did Shem have any idea the earth was a sphere? I think not.

  darwin expressed a similar concern in his return letter of february 1860.. the eye to this day gives me a cold shudder, but when i think of the fine known gradations [available through millions of years of evolution], my reason tells me i ought to conquer the cold shudder.

  when you're in here, and someone is crying about message-board injustice, do you get the urge to say the most sarcastic, caustic thing that comes to mind?

  do you have to stop yourself?

  i do.. i don't know if it's the old jw 'laugh at the next guy who's not as good as you' syndrome, but i have the silly urges to body-slam people with my words.. before september 11th, i always used to say, "i hate people.

  I myself don't spend a lot of time listening to those that seem to me to have unjustified complaints.

  All though as I get older I find I try hard to listen to peoples complaints but find it hard to listen very long.

  Life has its problems and some have legitimate complaints, but some are just little cry babies and want attention, when I find this to be the case I just do my best to ignore their whining.

  For the most part those I concider whiners, I avoid slamming them just in case I may be wrong and add to their troubles.

  If Scientist Mastered DNA???

  some day maybe scientist will be able to read dna.. and maybe someday they might learn how to program dna with computers.. this to me doesn't seem that far away.. when they do they will be able to create new life forms, in effect play god.. do you think will man make life vastly better then when he can design it useing dna or someother molecule to make new life.. will altruisim guide him in what he does with his new abilities?.

  Ab & JJ,

  I realize they have a very limited knowledge of DNA code.
  Perhaps 100 or so years they will know enough, to read it entirely.
  Will this be dangereous or good?
  That depends on who uses this knowledge, a benign or sinister group or individual.
  Reading and programming genetic code will require tremendeous forethought in order to see the effects our changes will have years in the future.
  While it true we can alter genetic code now as our knowledge increases the more caution is needed.
